Things to do in the local areas...

Flora, Fauna and Wildlife Watching

wildlifewatching.jpg

Wildlife watching at Loch Tay is one of the highlights of this area.

While staying with us you could catch sight of red squirrels, pine martens, and black grouse or even spot a Roe Deer or stag roaming by. Our property and surrounding hills are teaming with Scottish wildlife.

There is also an abundance and variety of flora and fauna such as bluebells, thistles, heather and beautiful, colourful alpine flowers, not to mention the incredible rolling green hills perfect for walks.

Walking around Loch Tay

One of the best ways to see the animals and plant life of Loch Tay is to get out and explore the landscape on foot or on a mountain bike.

Trails of varying difficulties stretch around the loch as well as up into the surrounding hills from the easy Ben Lawers nature trail to the more testing climb of Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas. There are also walking trails around the local townships including: Pitlochry, Killin and Kenmore. For more experienced hikers, longer and more intense hiking routes wind up into the hills and mountains.

The walking trails around Loch Tay offer incredible scenic views of the loch and town, and all offer a chance to see local wildlife, plants and flowers up close. If you’d like to see even more wildlife, you may be interested in visiting one of the local wildlife parks or stopping by the Ben Lawers Visitor Centre for insight into local nature conversation and restoration efforts.

Golf

golf.jpg

For golf breaks in Perthshire, look no further. And there is no place in the world like Scotland for golf. Recognised as the home of golf, golfing history can be traced back 600 years. With some 540 golf courses there is such a diversity of challenge to you and other discerning golfers - amateur or professional. And no more so than here!!

Testing conditions range from not just lowland flat courses to the up and downhill fairways of our local Highland courses but with the weather often adding an extra dimension to the links there is much to vary the experience for you as the visiting golfer.

Naturally not all golf courses are at Championship level, like nearby Gleneagles and Blairgowrie Rosemount. But numerous local gems await you here - well worth seeking out for their beauty, challenge and indeed to meet the locals – and their great hospitality - on their own turf. You will never be stuck for choice but you will certainly find it tough to make your selections of course to play. For great 18 hole golf we really recommend Pitlochry Golf Club (superb), Aberfeldy Golf Club – and of course Taymouth Castle – where and why else would the Four Seasons Group choose to develop what will shortly be one of the top golf courses and destinations in Scotland? For a shorter, not necessarily less gentle 9 – local delights await at nearby Kenmore Golf Club and Killin Golf Club.

One way to get a good deal on golf courses is to buy the Perthshire Green Card. This card offers discounted golf on many of Perthshire's 18-hole venues and we can arrange one for you.

We welcome corporate golf outings, society golf days, golf groups of all kinds, lady golfers – and promise great convivial hospitality after the 18th – or the 19th.
